\nTrump Derangement Syndrome<\/a> (TDS) is a pejorative, non-clinical term used primarily by Donald Trump supporters to describe what they view as irrational, obsessive hatred or negative reactions by his detractors (i.e. political left) toward Trump, his policies, his supporters, his rhetoric and his mental health. The term implies that Trump’s critics (i.e. political left) suffer from emotional instability, paranoia, or disproportionate anger that resembles symptoms of anxiety or obsessive-compulsive disorders like intrusive thoughts and compulsive news-checking.<\/span><\/p>\n

The news provides daily fuel for Trump’s critics who are not shy about expressing their opinions about everything he says and does. Invoking TDS is one way Trump’s supporters deal with these attacks. (Other defenses are itemized later in this page.) But they never publicly address the very real evidence that they themselves observe that much of what he says and does violates social norms and mental health standards. Occasionally, media dare to report snippets of this evidence but never go into detail about his mental health because mental health professionals are ethically constrained from making such reports public.<\/span><\/div>\n

The exception to this practice is found in the book series titled The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump<\/em> that originated from a Yale University conference in April 2017 called “The Duty to Warn.”\u00a0 This conference was convened because of mounting concerns among mental health professionals about President Trump’s fitness for office. The motivation stemmed from fears that his observable behaviors\u2014indicative of pathological narcissism and other disorders\u2014posed a “clear and present danger” to public safety, overriding the Goldwater Rule<\/a> against remote diagnoses in light of a professional “duty to warn.”\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The experts say his problems are getting worse as he gains more political power, hurting society by creating fear, division, and “Trump anxiety” from constant confusion and bad examples.\u00a0<\/span>These very serious assessments are aggravated by feelings by some psychiatrists that his psychosis is considered not treatable with medication, and his severe character disorder limits his capacity for introspection or change. Finally, they<\/span>\u00a0urge using the 25th Amendment<\/a> for a proper check-up instead of staying quiet. They say that warning people is more important than old rules against public comments.\u200b<\/span><\/p>\n

By publishing The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump<\/em>, mental health professionals have satisfied their duty to warn Americans about the dangers of Trump’s presidency. Now it is up to true patriots to leverage that truth in ways that will end that presidency soon.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
