GOD DOES NOT HEAR ALL PRAYERS<\/strong>
\nContrary to religious teaching and popular opinion, God does not hear all prayers of all people at all times. The following scriptures make this very clear:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
\u00a0SCRIPTURE<\/strong><\/td>\n\u00a0COMMENTARY<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
\u00a0Leviticus 26:14-39 New American Standard<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/em>14<\/em>\u00a0‘ But if you do not obey Me and do not carry out all these commandments, 15<\/em>\u00a0if, instead, you reject My statutes, and if your soul abhors My ordinances so as not to carry out all My commandments, {and} so break My covenant, 16<\/em>\u00a0I, in turn, will do this to you: I will appoint over you a sudden terror, consumption and fever \u202617<\/em>\u00a0‘I will set My face against you so that you will be struck down before your enemies\u202618<\/em>\u00a0‘If also after these things you do not obey Me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins. 19<\/em>\u00a0‘I will also break down your pride of power; I will also make your sky like iron and your earth like bronze. 20<\/em>\u00a0‘ Your strength will be spent uselessly, for your land will not yield its produce and the trees of the land will not yield their fruit. 21<\/em>\u00a0‘If then, you act with hostility against Me and are unwilling to obey Me, I will increase the plague on you seven times according to your sins. 22<\/em>\u00a0‘ I will let loose among you the beasts of the field\u2026 23<\/em>\u00a0‘ And if by these things you are not turned to Me, but act with hostility against Me, 24<\/em>\u00a0then I will act with hostility against you; and I, even I, will strike you seven times for your sins. 25<\/em>\u00a0‘I will also bring upon you a sword which will execute vengeance for the covenant \u2026I will send pestilence among you, so that you shall be delivered into enemy hands\u2026.<\/p>\n

27<\/em>\u00a0‘Yet if in spite of this you do not obey Me, but act with hostility against Me, 28<\/em>\u00a0then I will act with wrathful hostility against you, and I, even I, will punish you seven times for your sins\u2026. 30<\/em>\u00a0‘I then will destroy your high places, and cut down your incense altars, and heap your remains on the remains of your idols, for My soul shall abhor you. 31\u00a0‘I will lay waste your cities as well and will make your sanctuaries desolate, and I will not smell your soothing aromas.<\/td>\n

DEUTERONOMY 1:42<\/em>-45 New American Standard<\/em><\/p>\n

42<\/em>\u00a0” And the LORD said to me, ‘Say to them, “Do not go up nor fight, for I am not among you; otherwise you will be defeated before your enemies.'” 43<\/em>\u00a0“So I spoke to you, but you would not listen. Instead you rebelled against the command of the LORD, and acted presumptuously and went up into the hill country. 44<\/em>\u00a0” The Amorites who lived in that hill country came out against you and chased you as bees do, and crushed you from Seir to Hormah. 45<\/em>\u00a0“Then you returned and wept before the LORD; but the LORD did not listen to your voice nor give ear to you.<\/td>\n

If we pridefully<\/a> rebel against God by practicing religion, and fail to listen to his voice<\/a>, and then cry out to Him when things go wrong, He will not listen to our cry.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
1 SAMUEL 8:4-22 New American Standard<\/em><\/p>\n

4<\/span> So all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah. <\/span>5<\/span> They said to him, \u201cYou are old, and your sons do not follow your ways; now appoint a king to lead us, such as all the other nations have.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

6<\/span> But when they said, \u201cGive us a king to lead us,\u201d this displeased Samuel; so he prayed to the LORD. <\/span>7<\/span> And the LORD told him: \u201cListen to all that the people are saying to you; it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected me as their king. <\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
8<\/span> As they have done from the day I brought them up out of Egypt until this day, forsaking me and serving other gods, so they are doing to you. <\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
9<\/span> Now listen to them; but warn them solemnly and let them know what the king who will reign over them will claim as his rights.\u201d <\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
10<\/span> Samuel told all the words of the LORD to the people who were asking him for a king. <\/span>11<\/span> He said, \u201cThis is what the king who will reign over you will claim as his rights: He will take your sons and make them serve with his chariots and horses, and they will run in front of his chariots. <\/span>12<\/span> Some he will assign to be commanders of thousands and commanders of fifties, and others to plow his ground and reap his harvest, and still others to make weapons of war and equipment for his chariots. <\/span><\/div>\n

13<\/span> He will take your daughters to be perfumers and cooks and bakers. <\/span>14<\/span> He will take the best of your fields and vineyards and olive groves and give them to his attendants. <\/span><\/div>\n

15<\/span> He will take a tenth of your grain and of your vintage and give it to his officials and attendants. <\/span>16<\/span> Your male and female servants and the best of your cattle and donkeys he will take for his own use. <\/span>17<\/span> He will take a tenth of your flocks, and you yourselves will become his slaves. <\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
18<\/span> When that day comes, you will cry out for relief from the king you have chosen, but the LORD will not answer you in that day.\u201d <\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
19<\/span> But the people refused to listen to Samuel. \u201cNo!\u201d they said. \u201cWe want a king over us. <\/span>20<\/span> Then we will be like all the other nations, with a king to lead us and to go out before us and fight our battles.\u201d <\/span><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
21<\/span> When Samuel heard all that the people said, he repeated it before the LORD. <\/span>22<\/span> The LORD answered, \u201cListen to them and give them a king.\u201d Then Samuel said to the Israelites, \u201cEveryone go back to your own town.\u201d <\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/td>\n
\u00a0If we choose to have a religious leader (i.e. king) rule over us, God allows us to have that king. But when religious leaders we have chosen oppresses and enslave<\/a> us, and cry out to God in prayer, God will not answer us.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
\n

JOB 35:9-15\u00a0 he Message<\/p>\n

9<\/em>\u00a0“When times get bad, people cry out for help. They cry for relief from being kicked around, 10<\/em>\u00a0But never give God a thought when things go well, when God puts spontaneous songs in their hearts, 11<\/em>\u00a0When God sets out the entire creation as a science classroom, using birds and beasts to teach wisdom. 12<\/em>\u00a0People are arrogantly indifferent to God – until, of course, they’re in trouble, and then God is indifferent to them. 13<\/em>\u00a0There’s nothing behind such prayers except panic; the Almighty pays them no mind. 14<\/em>\u00a0So why would he notice you just because you say you’re tired of waiting to be heard, 15<\/em>\u00a0Or waiting for him to get good and angry and do something about the world’s problems?<\/p>\n<\/td>\n

JOB 35:9-15 NIV<\/p>\n

9<\/em>\u00a0“Men cry out under a load of oppression; they plead for relief from the arm of the powerful. 10<\/em>\u00a0But no one says, ‘Where is God my Maker, who gives songs in the night, 11<\/em>\u00a0who teaches more to us than to the beasts of the earth and makes us wiser than the birds of the air?’ 12<\/em>\u00a0He does not answer when men cry out because of the arrogance of the wicked. 13<\/em>\u00a0Indeed, God does not listen to their empty plea; the Almighty pays no attention to it. 14<\/em>\u00a0How much less, then, will he listen when you say that you do not see him, that your case is before him and you must wait for him, 15<\/em>\u00a0and further, that his anger never punishes and he does not take the least notice of wickedness.<\/td>\n

Psalm 24:3-5 New American Standard<\/em><\/p>\n

3 Who may ascend into the hill of the LORD? And who may stand in His holy place? 4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood And has not sworn deceitfully. 5 He shall receive a blessing from the God of his salvation.<\/td>\n

\u00a0Clean hands and a pure heart<\/a> are required before anyone can reasonably expect to come into the Lord\u2019s presence for any reason \u2013 including prayer.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Psalm 50:16-17 New American Standard<\/em><\/p>\n

16 But to the wicked God says, “What right have you to tell of My statutes And to take My covenant in your mouth? 17<\/em>\u00a0“For you hate discipline, And you cast My words behind you.<\/td>\n

God questions and challenges the right of wicked people (those who hate discipline<\/a> and do not listen to his spoken voice<\/a>) about their right to remind Him of His covenant promises and appeal\/pray for Him to fulfill those promises. They are Old\/First Covenant religionists — not New Covenant disciples.<\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
PSALMS 66:18 New American Standard<\/em><\/p>\n

18<\/em>\u00a0If I regard wickedness in my heart, The Lord will not hear;<\/td>\n

God does not listen if our hearts are not pure.<\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
 <\/p>\n

PROVERBS 1:23-31\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 New American Standard<\/em><\/p>\n

22<\/em>\u00a0“How long, O naive ones, will you love being simple-minded? And scoffers delight themselves in scoffing And fools hate knowledge? 23<\/em>\u00a0“Turn to my reproof, Behold, I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you. 24<\/em>\u00a0“Because I called and you refused, I stretched out my hand and no one paid attention; 25<\/em>\u00a0And you neglected all my counsel And did not want my reproof; 26<\/em>\u00a0I will also laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your dread comes, 27<\/em>\u00a0When your dread comes like a storm And your calamity comes like a whirlwind, When distress and anguish come upon you. 28<\/em>\u00a0“Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently but they will not find me, 29<\/em>\u00a0Because they hated knowledge And did not choose the fear of the LORD. 30<\/em>\u00a0“They would not accept my counsel, They spurned all my reproof. 31<\/em>\u00a0“So they shall eat of the fruit of their own way And be satiated with their own devices. 32<\/em>\u00a0“For the waywardness of the naive will kill them, And the complacency of fools will destroy them. 33<\/em>\u00a0“But he who listens to me shall live securely And will be at ease from the dread of evil.”<\/td>\n

God will not answer our call nor allow Himself to be found when we seek Him if the following conditions are true:<\/p>\n
PROVERBS 15:29 New American Standard<\/em><\/p>\n

29<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0The LORD is far from the wicked, But He hears the prayer of the righteous.<\/td>\n

God is far from Old\/First Covenant religionists (i.e. wicked) but He hears the prayers of New Covenant disciples (i.e. righteous).<\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
PROVERBS 21:13\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 N<\/em>ew American Standard<\/em><\/p>\n

13<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0He who shuts his ear to the cry of the poor Will also cry himself and not be answered.<\/td>\n

God does not hear us if we shut our ears to the cries of the spiritually poor who are enslaved to religion<\/a>. He expects us to be warriors<\/a>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

PROVERBS 28:9
\n<\/em><\/p>\n

9<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0He who turns away his ear from listening to the law, Even his prayer is an abomination. New American Standard<\/em><\/p>\n

9<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0If a person will not listen to Torah, even his prayer is an abomination.\u00a0Complete Jewish Bible<\/em><\/p>\n<\/td>\n

Prayers of Old\/First Covenant<\/a> religionists who do not hear and obey God’s spoken voice<\/a> are an abomination and revolting to God.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
ISAIAH 1:11-17\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 New American Standard<\/em><\/p>\n

11<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0” What are your multiplied sacrifices to Me?” Says the LORD. “I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams And the fat of fed cattle; And I take no pleasure in the blood of bulls, lambs or goats. 12<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0“When you come to appear before Me, Who requires of you this trampling of My courts? 13<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0“Bring your worthless offerings no longer, Incense is an abomination to Me. God will not hear our prayers if the following are true:<\/p>\n
ISAIAH 59:2\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 New American Standard<\/em><\/p>\n

1<\/em>\u00a0Behold, the LORD’S hand is not so short That it cannot save; Nor is His ear so dull That it cannot hear. 2<\/em>\u00a0But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, And your sins have hidden {His} face from you so that He does not hear. 3<\/em>\u00a0For your hands are defiled with blood And your fingers with iniquity; Your lips have spoken falsehood, Your tongue mutters wickedness<\/td>\n

LAMENTATIONS 3:1-10<\/p>\n

1<\/em>\u00a0I am the man who has seen affliction Because of the rod of His wrath. 2<\/em>\u00a0He has driven me and made me walk In darkness and not in light. 3<\/em>\u00a0Surely against me He has turned His hand Repeatedly all the day. 4<\/em>\u00a0He has caused my flesh and my skin to waste away, He has broken my bones. 5<\/em>\u00a0He has besieged and encompassed me with bitterness and hardship. 6<\/em>\u00a0In dark places He has made me dwell, Like those who have long been dead. 7<\/em>\u00a0He has walled me in so that I cannot go out; He has made my chain heavy. 8<\/em>\u00a0Even when I cry out and call for help, He shuts out my prayer. 9<\/em>\u00a0He has blocked my ways with hewn stone; He has made my paths crooked. 10<\/em>\u00a0He is to me like a bear lying in wait, {Like} a lion in secret places. 11<\/em>\u00a0He has turned aside my ways and torn me to pieces; He has made me desolate<\/td>\n

\u00a0This is a lament of someone who is suffering affliction and wrath from religion<\/a>. Among the many ways this man is being disciplined<\/a> for his sin is the consequence of God shutting out his prayers when he cries for help.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
LAMENTATIONS 3:37-45<\/em><\/p>\n

37<\/em>\u00a0Who is there who speaks and it comes to pass, Unless the Lord has commanded {it?} 38<\/em>\u00a0{Is it} not from the mouth of the Most High That both good and ill go forth? 39<\/em>\u00a0Why should {any} living mortal, or {any} man, Offer complaint in view of his sins? 40<\/em>\u00a0Let us examine and probe our ways, And let us return to the LORD. 41<\/em>\u00a0We lift up our heart and hands Toward God in heaven; 42<\/em>\u00a0We have transgressed and rebelled, You have not pardoned. 43<\/em>\u00a0You have covered {Yourself} with anger And pursued us; You have slain {and} have not spared. 44<\/em>\u00a0You have covered Yourself with a cloud So that no prayer can pass through. 45<\/em>\u00a0{You have made us mere} offscouring and refuse In the midst of the peoples. 37<\/em>\u00a0Who do you think “spoke and it happened”? It’s the Master who gives such orders. 38<\/em>\u00a0Doesn’t the High God speak everything, good things and hard things alike, into being? 39<\/em>\u00a0And why would anyone gifted with life complain when punished for sin? 40<\/em>\u00a0Let’s take a good look at the way we’re living and reorder our lives under God. 41<\/em>\u00a0Let’s lift our hearts and hands at one and the same time, praying to God in heaven: 42<\/em>\u00a0“We’ve been contrary and willful, and you haven’t forgiven. 43<\/em>\u00a0“You lost your temper with us, holding nothing back. You chased us and cut us down without mercy. 44<\/em>\u00a0You wrapped yourself in thick blankets of clouds so no prayers could get through. The <\/em>Message<\/em><\/td>\n

If we have sinned and rebelled by practicing religion without repentance that leads to forgiveness, God covers himself with a cloud<\/a> so that our prayers cannot get through.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
JOHN 9:31<\/em>\u00a0 <\/em>
\n<\/em><\/strong>“We know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is God-fearing and does His will, He hears him. New American Standard<\/em>It’s well known that God isn’t at the beck and call of sinners, but listens carefully to anyone who lives in reverence and does his will. The Message<\/em><\/td>\n		\u00a0God does not listen to Old\/First Covenant religionists but He does listen to those who fear, worship and obey Him (i.e. New Covenant<\/a> disciples.)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
1 PETER 3:7 New American Standard<\/em><\/p>\n

7<\/em>\u00a0You husbands in the same way, live with your wives in an understanding way, as with someone weaker, since she is a woman; and show her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered.<\/td>\n

Prayers of husbands are hindered if they are not considerate and respectful of their wives.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
