America is generally considered to be a Christian nation.

Approximately 30% of American identify as Christian Nationalist.

1. According to the 2022 PRRI Census of American Religion, 85% of Republicans identify as Christian1.

2. The religious composition of the Republican party has remained relatively stable over time, with only a 9-percentage-point shift from 94% Christian in 2006 to 85% Christian in 20221.

3. In the 118th Congress, nearly all congressional Republicans (99%) describe themselves as Christians2.

 

Cultural Christian osmosis.

• • Involves the passive absorption of Christian beliefs, values, and practices through exposure to a Christian environment15.

  • Often occurs without intentional effort or active engagement1.

  • Can lead to a superficial understanding of faith, sometimes referred to as “cultural Christianity”5.

  • May result in adopting Christian cultural norms without necessarily developing a deep, personal faith3.

Theological osmosis:

• • Refers to the gradual absorption of theological ideas and spiritual truths through exposure to theological teachings and practices2.

  • Involves intentional engagement with theological concepts, often through reading and studying theology2.

  • Aims to deepen one’s understanding of God’s identity and movement in the world2.

  • Can lead to a more profound and nuanced faith, helping believers see the world and others through a theological lens2.

**Most of the lies Christian Nationalists believe originated with religious leaders who interpreted the bible literally instead of symbolically.  Therefore, the only way for them to stop believing lies is if they are exposed to the truth.

Telling the truth about the bible will be hard for people who are not themselves convinced of the truth. It would be good, therefore, for people who want to tell the truth to Christian Nationalists to first be convinced about the truth in their own hearts and minds before they attempt to share the truth with others.
