PURE, FAULTLESS RELIGION AND WORTHLESS RELIGION
Christian Nationalists express their religion through political activism and legislation that expands their rights while limiting the rights and opportunities of others. In pursuing these legislative agendas, they self-righteously claim that they are doing God’s work. The truth is that the things they do prove that they are ignorant of God’s commands about  loving your neighbor as you love yourself. Here is what God says about their religion:

James 1:26-27: Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless. Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

Christian Nationalists aggressively pursue their perverted concept of religious righteousness through political activism — not as a matter of obedience to God’s about loving your neighbor.  Through this strategy, they have not just neglected orphans, widows, and other marginalized Americans, they have promoted and adopted legislation that afflicts those marginalized Americans in very real and hurtful ways. This strategy has caused serious divisions between Christian Nationalists, the marginalized Americans they oppress, and the progressive/liberal Americans who work hard to mitigate the harm done to their marginalized neighbors.

It must be said, therefore, that the division that exists in America is not just a matter of political ideology, education, economics, gender preferences or race. At its root, the division is a matter of conflict between two types of religion:

Of course there are many nuances to division, but James 1:26-27 is not nuanced. In God’s eyes, there is pure and faultless religion and there is worthless religion. That’s it.

Because Christian Nationalists do not look after orphans and widows in their distress and do not to keep themselves from being polluted by the world of religion, they bear the blame and shame for division in America.

No doubt God has been trying to speak to Christian Nationalists about this truth, but obviously their hard hearts prevent them from hearing his voice. That leaves an opportunity for truthtellers who practice pure and faultless religion and who are motivated to heal America’s divisions to speak the truth to Christian Nationalists. Who knows what might happen if people started exposing Christian Nationalist lies and sharing truth? It surely won’t make things worse, and sooner or later truth will heal division and establish unity among all people.

If enough people understood the long term benefits of speaking the truth about God’s standards for pure religion, maybe Christian Nationalists would get the message that their religion is worthless and voluntarily reign in their tongues and their political activism. Who knows? Maybe some of them will be convicted about the fallacy that God has blessed American Christians and has chosen them to have dominion over America. Or, if Christian Nationalist leaders are not personally convicted, maybe some of their supporters will stop giving them money and votes. Either way, the potential for healing division and achieving unity is great if we don’t weary in well-doing. It’s worth trying. The stakes are high, and no one has suggested any better plans for confronting Christian Nationalism.

With this perspective in mind, it is worth noting that many of the progressive liberals who tirelessly militate on behalf of marginalized people are not themselves overtly religious. Some of them may not even believe that God exists. But that is not a problem for God because belief in God is not a prerequisite for being a truth teller.

It is a curious phenomena, that many unbelieving activists instinctively practice the principles of loving your neighbor as yourself. Untainted by religion, they practice a pure form of religion that is not at all evident in Christian Nationalists. These might be the best people to expose the lies Christian Nationalists believe about their false religion.
