A NEW NAME FOR AN ONGOING WAR
It is impossible for a human to change the heart of another human for good. We see evidence all around us that it is relatively easy to change a good heart to an evil, impure heart through abuse or neglect, but changing an evil, impure heart to a good, pure heart is God’s job.
In the secret depths of their hearts, preachers, politicians, political activists, bloggers, podcasters, political commentators, and all others who share Christian Nationalists’ opinions about religion and politics, probably believe that what their leadership and legislation will make America a Christian nation.
And their rhetoric says that they, or their chosen delegates, must be elected to political offices or appointed to judicial offices before that will happen. This is the world of Christian Nationalism.
Politicians who proudly and loudly advocate for the principles of Christian Nationalism, and freely reference bible when speaking are, in effect spiritual leaders. We must conclude, therefore, that whatever the bible says about the motives and behaviors of religious leaders also applies to these politicians. This means that the division between church and state has been severely blurred.
Readers who would like a reminder of what the bible says about the motives of religious/political leaders would do well to visit this link, this link, and this link.
These motives are aggressively exercised in the hearts, minds and activities of Christian Nationalists. And so, they freely speak, write and demonstrate their self-righteousness for all to see. They are making names for themselves as godly, religious leaders while they seek material and spiritual wealth. Furthermore, although they might not admit it, Christian Nationalists believe that their loud, self-righteousness rhetoric empowers them to accomplish God’s will as they interpret it from the literal words of the bible. But they are wrong because God’s voice and the bible are not the same.
In God’s eyes, Christian Nationalists are not just human religious/political leaders. Rather, they are human gods engaging in warfare designed to expand their personal kingdoms under the cover of self-righteous obedience to their literal interpretations of the bible. This can be understood, however, only when we understand the symbolism of war-related topics like blood and swords.
We cannot begin to confront Christian Nationalists effectively until we understand that the issues and conflicts aroused by Christian Nationalists are twenty-first century iterations of bible stories about conflict between religious kingdoms who are at war with each other for the hearts and minds of followers who will support them with money, praise and votes.
Christian Nationalists claim to be working for God, but they are really his enemies in the same sense that warring nations of the Old Testament were Israel’s enemies. The sooner we realize this fact, the sooner we will successfully disarm the movement.
